The victim is Patricia Ogden. Though she was never popular with the MPD, there are few tears shed when she is found murdered on a balcony at the Lawrence Mansion.

The only suspect is a cop who was having an affair with the attorney.

Scrambling to provide transparency to the public, the higher-ups at the police department reach out to Detective Jordan Miles, a former cold case investigator, for help. When Jordan agrees to consult on the case and examine the evidence, the police department comes under scrutiny. From racial tensions within the community to pushback from her sergeant, Jordan must face her own insecurities and trust her instincts that the real killer is still on the loose.

Soon, the secrets Jordan uncovers entangle her in a war between those closest to her and a criminal expecting her to honor promises too dangerous to keep.
