Criminal Lines Roll Call: COVID Mask Concern

October 24, 2020 by Marguerite Ashton

I’m trying to understand why after testing positive for the Coronavirus, why I was told by the lady from the county that masks don’t work.

I get that they are not 100%, but to tell me to do all of the things I was already doing to protect my family, then to make the comment above, is like saying it’s a waste of my time.

As a pro-masker, I understand that masks help some, but it was frustrating to have this personal intrusion, which, I originally believed to be for the safety of my family. To have it shredded by someone who’s supposed to be respectable and offer proper advice, for a moment, left me in an uncomfortable space.

Even after my rant, I still have it…

As a parent, I know what it’s like to do all that you can to keep your children and elderly parents safe. However, if you work for the county and you’re calling a person who has just learned that they have the Coronavirus, please be more responsible with your statements. If you truly believe in mask-wearing or about the COVID Crisis, you will not carry on a personal rant contradicting the statements in which you are telling me that I need to reinforce in my OWN home.

Sincerely,

MommaBear Ashton
